The University of Kurdistan is a comprehensive, education-oriented, research-oriented, and entrepreneurial university that, as an efficient social institution aiming at excellence in education and knowledge development, and as one of the leading scientific centers in Iran’s west, has a historical responsibility to fulfil through regional, national and international interactions with other institutions within a social context, and by cultivating devout and proficient alumni. As the largest and most influential university in Kurdistan province, the university has four key missions:

1) Teaching and training efficient and proficient manpower

2) Research including fundamental, developmental and applied research

3) Entrepreneurship, commercialization of knowledge and transforming ideas into a reality/innovation

4) Social responsibility and influence

To accomplish these missions, boosting the quality of educational courses, enriching the content of theoretical courses and empowering the proficiency of graduated students at all levels, expanding graduate and postgraduate programs for MA/MSc and PhD degrees by emphasizing on the academic priority areas, developing applied and interdisciplinary fields based on higher education preparation policies and improving virtual learning are among our most important programs in the educational field. Given the internationalist nature of the university, special attention will be paid to scientific diplomacy at an international level. In discussing research and technology, while promoting the quality of the research and technology system, expanding the research position and increasing the share of university scientific productions at national, regional and international levels, we seek to promote academic entrepreneurship and commercialization of knowledge.

For further connection of the university with the community and for its role in the social mission to be fulfilled, it aims to assist the empowered forces and utilize the scientific and managerial capabilities of faculty members, while examining current and future global developments and identifying strengths, weaknesses, advantages and challenges facing the Iranian society as well as the direction of economics policies, social, cultural and even political policies in order to gain an appropriate position in those areas. Therefore, the university seeks to upgrade the level of interaction with industries, the community and the government in the regional and national spheres as well.
