Department Agricultural Economics

The permission of Bachelor of Engineering (BE) in agricultural economics by ministry of science, research and technology (MSRT) at the year 2006 issued and after that the concern department established in the college of agriculture and natural resources. The department at September 2006 started admission which it was about 35 students and since September 2009 master program defined and admission under evening program started.

Main Research Areas

the department mostly focused in:

Determination of agricultural crops’ cost price,

Agricultural cropping pattern,

Estimation of production as well as cost functions of main agricultural crops emphasizing on local situation.

Finding of agricultural production factors’ shadow prices

Environmental and natural resources researches

About Department Agricultural Extension and Education

Agriculture is a techno-social effort with people involved as farmers, extensionists, trainers, scientists, managers, and policy makers. Realizing the increasing importance of agricultural extension as an academic discipline, the task of strengthening the social dimension of agriculture was left to the departments of agricultural extension and education in the universities. In this regard, the Department of Agricultural Extension and Education in the University of Kurdistan (UOK), Sanandaj, was established to follow formal programs in the level of Master of Science. Currently, the department registers students in three fields of study: sustainable agricultural extension and natural resources, sustainable agricultural education and environment, agricultural innovation and entrepreneurship. These programs are intended to produce professionals who have been grounded in technical agriculture, research and the skills of communicating agricultural technologies to producers, agricultural educationists and rural development specialists. Currently, there are three active faculty members and about 30 students studying for a master's degree in agricultural extension and education at Kurdistan University.
